March 23rd will forever be a special day.

A day which signalled, 12 months ago, the start of a UK wide-lockdown. This year we took time to reflect on just how the world had changed and remember those who had passed on. Especially those who caught the Corona Virus. As well as thinking of all those who had and still are suffering from the effects of long Covid. We are all I am sure, grateful for the wonderful work done by those ‘key workers’. Who knows just where we would be without them!

For those like me whose birthday falls on March the 23rd, each year will be more poignant than before. Is it right to celebrate or should we just be sad because of all of that loss throughout the world? Unfortunately, so many people are going to be left with debilitating problems. Young, middle-aged and older people will all require extra care that they never envisaged they would need. Hopefully, the vaccine programme will get everything back on track and we will find the vast majority of people will take it.

What Next?

There will be an increase in the number of people who are going to need different aids. Such as wheelchairs or mobility scooters to get around, or adjustable beds and riser recliner chairs in the home.

March 23rd, my birthday, will forever be remembered as the start of lockdown in 2020. Let us hope that we will be able to look back in future years and realise that we have at last defeated this terrible pandemic.
