You may be as surprised to hear that there is a real possibility of electric scooters becoming legal.
At present, although widely used in certain towns, these scooters are not supposed to be allowed in the UK. There are moves afoot though to make them legal.
Do you think though that these electric scooters that can go up to 16mph are safe?

Mobility scooters that are designed to assist those with a disability are only allowed to go to 8mph. But that is one the road. On pavements and in shopping areas the maximum speed is 4mph.

This sort of small mobility scooter is ideal as it is lightweight, safe and easy to transport.
People are aware of mobility scooters around them but electric scooter pose an entirely different threat. They are silent and fast and at present, they are only allowed on private land no user follows that rule.
If they become legal they will, I am sure, follow mobility scooters to being used on pavements. Worse than that you will see them in shopping centres and supermarkets before long.
They, the electric scooters, will take up less room but will I feel become a nuisance. The problem with them is that in the main they will be used by people who will want the speed. Not be those who need to the convenience and help that a mobility scooter offers the disabled.
If electric scooters become legal to use in the UK then the market will suddenly be massive. You will see them everywhere. Whilst though they will, I believe, be restricted in where they are used policing them will be difficult.
Two things spring to mind if you want transportation why not use a mobility scooter? They have four wheels and go at speeds that are safe and convenient. The second thing is where will all the electricity come from?
With the move towards electric cars, electric scooters, mobility scooters, there are an awful lot of batteries need charging. Power stations have been closing so where is it going to come from.
